Valladolid Cuisine:
Valladolid's cuisine is clearly Castilian because of the regional products it uses, its loyalty to tradition and the establishment of ancestral dishes.
At the same time (perhaps influenced by its condition as the capital of the Autonomous Community), a new, creative cuisine has emerged, which is lighter and a bit daring in its combination of local ingredients.
In Valladolid they love meat, especially roasted. Suckling lamb, suckling pig and baby goat are very popular, as well as game meats like partridge, quail and rabbit, prepared in a myriad of ways. When it comes to poultry, hen stew with egg yolk sauce is something of an institution within Spanish cuisine and Tordesillas' rooster, a type of rooster raised in Tordesillas following ancestral methods, is also a delicacy.
About the Area
Valladolid, the city on the River Pisuerga, preserves an interesting Renaissance group of buildings in its old quarter, made up of houses, palaces, churches and one of its most symbolic buildings, its Cathedral.
The capital of Castella enjoys an extensive cultural life, thanks to its status as a university city as well as playing host for events like the Seminci, the International Film Week, an event not to be missed in the Spanish cinema calendar.
Attractions
Museo Nacional de Escultura - Colegio de San Gregorio. This 20 room museum houses examples of the region´s religious and artistic heritage, including figurines, sculptures and other mementos from the now-destroyed monasteries. Entrance to the museum is free on Saturday afternoons and Sundays.
Casa de Cervantes - The old house of the medieval writer Cervantes is mundane, but the collection of old books and furniture will appeal to admirers of the author.
Cathedral - As in most Spanish towns, the cathedral has a presence of its own. This cathedral was designed by Juan de Herra, and is quite quaint with its monochromatic colour scheme.
Museo Diocesano - This museum hosts a great array of statues of Jesus, the Virgin Mary and the saints.

Airport: Valladolid
Largely due to the arrival of Ryanair the passenger traffic at Valladolid has grown from just 195,000 passengers in 2001 to just over 400,000 in 2005.
Valladolid is the capital city of the Castile - Leon area and the airport is around 10 kms outside of the City centre.
The Valladolid arrivals hall is fairly small with only two carousels. The departures area at Valladolid airport includes 8 check in desks and it is here that you will also find a cafe, restaurant and small shop selling cigarettes, newspapers etc.
Parking at Valladolid is quite reasonable and there are 246 spaces plus about another 80 spaces reserved for hire cars.
Valladolid Airport Taxis can be found outside of the main terminal building and cost between 16-20 euros for a trip into the City.
